Born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, Marquan “Q” Gary is a creative visionary with over 23 years of experience in videography, photography, graphic design, and music production. Q’s journey began humbly in the backroom of the first home he purchased with his mother at just 23 years old. What started as a small vocal recording studio for local Paterson artists quickly grew into a creative powerhouse that would shape the visual and musical landscape of his city.

Within a year of launching his home studio, Q had become one of the most sought-after recording engineers in Paterson. As his client base grew, he recognized a new need—visuals to complement the music. That insight led him to photography. After taking several classes and purchasing his first camera, Q began shooting semi-professional photos right in his kitchen. Partnering with a young graphic design student, he learned Photoshop and soon mastered the art of creating striking album covers, party flyers, business cards, menus, and more. This expansion not only broadened his creative skill set but also transformed his one-room operation into a full-fledged multimedia business.

As demand skyrocketed, Q secured a 4,000-square-foot warehouse space in Paterson, where he produced countless projects over the next decade. It was during this time that he discovered his passion for film. Eager to learn, he attended free video editing classes at an Apple Store in New York City—often as the only student in the room. His determination and natural creativity quickly made filming and editing another signature offering under his belt.

Over the years, Q has had the privilege of working with an impressive roster of clients, including music industry icons like Lil Wayne, AZ, Fetty Wap, and Cardi B, as well as numerous political figures, lawyers, athletes, and public officials. His work has taken him from international destinations to rugged dirt tracks in St. Louis—always driven by his love for storytelling through visuals.
